The Milk Shell system re-defines ecologically aware design by tackling
the issue of wasted materials as well as the less regarded issue of
wasted print design.
Once a customer has purchased one shell with its included re-rill,
they are then able to keep the washable outer casing for continued
use. Re-fills can be continually released and re-developed in a range
of flavours and varieties at minimal packing costs.
The re-rill“s used in this design will be solely produced using newly
developed cellulose materials which are 100% recyclable and cheap to
manufacture. As opposed to glass these containers will be completely
safe for children to handle and resistant to sliding and shattering.
The labels will take up minimal space on the outside of the containers
and use a limited number of colours per print. All these
considerations will ensure that the clean transparent image of the
re-fill system will be supported by also being the cheapest milk on
the market.
It has become a condition of our society to over-spend on packaging
for products which are often bought and disposed of in the same day.
The milk carton has become a centerpiece for many breakfast tables and
the visual space it occupies can be better utilized by making the
packaging both re-useable and customizable. Family artwork and
photography can be shared communally at meal-times, graphic artists
can upload and exchange their custom designs online, produce
manufacturers can make recipe suggestions and health guidelines
available as printable inlays from their websites. The possibilities
are infinite.
